Child Care for Meetings - Please make your childcare reservations for foster parent meeting night to Erika Hanson at EHanson@cacplano.org. or 972-633-6619 at the Advocacy Center. at least 5 days before the meeting date every month. This is to ensure an adequate number of staff members are available. Please provide the 1) child's name, 2) age, and 3) your name.

WELCOME TO FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE PARENTS OF COLLIN COUNTY, INC SUPPORT SITE

This Support Group was started to help Foster and Adoptive Parents remain Foster Parents. When you foster or adopt it helps enormously to have a support system. Many times friends and family just don't understand what you are going through or why you put yourself through this. As a new Adoptive Parent or about to be Foster Parent, you are welcome to come and attend our meetings while you are still in PRIDE Classes or awaiting your license, private or with CPS. We would love to meet you and welcome you into our family of foster and adoption families. We welcome families from any county or agency! Start meeting other families and build a support system now. It is a proven fact that families that have a support system in place greatly benefit and foster longer.

Foster/Adoptive Parent Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, at the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center (address below) from 7-9 p.m. We offer two(2) hours Training credit at each meeting. Childcare is free, however reservations must be made by the Friday before the meeting. Please refer to the link to make your reservation. 2008 Meeting Dates / Training Opportunities:

March 11,2008 - Rhoda Bailey, Melody Rockwell, and Marnie Sadri will be discussing recent changes to CPS and provide updates within the system. They will also discuss the Centralized Placement Unit and how emergency placements are made. Please bring your questions because this will be your opportunity to have them answered!
April 7,2008 - A representative from STAR will be discussing the medical program for our foster children.

PLEASE NOTE:

Saturday March 29 there will be a Foster/Adopt Expo at the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center from 9 am to noon. A general information meeting will start at 10 am. Booths from collaborative agencies from across DFW will be in attendance. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. Don’t miss the opportunity to find out how you can become a foster parent, adoptive parent, or a volunteer.
